About Me:
Bear is a lovable happy and cuddly 7 month old Akita / GSD cross and is currently on foster in Carmarthenshire.
He is on foster with other dogs but tends to be too boisterous for the smaller dogs, we think a home with a confident larger breed female would be best; one that will take none of his nonsense. He can be a bit growly with other dogs when food is around, but seems fine with toys.
Bear is on foster with cats at the moment and very interested in them in an "I want to play" way , unfortunately due to his size and over-enthusiasm this kind of play will probably be dangerous to both parties!
He doesn’t show interest in chickens (although they are fenced off) and is respectful of horses.
His house training is a work in progress as he sometimes forgets he needs to go and has the occasional wee.
Bear is a strong boy and as he fills out likely to get stronger so an experienced owner committed to ongoing training and socialisation is needed. He will benefit from consistent kind but firm handling. Due to Bears over-enthusiasm and bounciness we are looking for a home with teenage children only.
He has basic sit/give paw training and his recall is described at the moment as reasonable.
If Bear can get his paws over something he will get over it so a well secured garden area is a must. He will chew things if bored so someone home most of the day is best and although he likes car travel he can be sick, this should improve with more trips out.
All Hope Rescue dogs are neutered, vaccinated, wormed, flea treated and microchipped prior to rehoming. A homecheck will be required, and you will need to come and meet the dog with your own dogs and family. Hope Rescue rehomes throughout the UK. A Pre-Home Interest Form can be downloaded from www.hoperescue.org.uk and should be returned to dogs@hoperescue.org.uk
